Nur 405
Sec460 - I am writing to you as a resident of the city of Hills, a mother, and a nurse concerned about the safety of our parks and recreation areas. I am a Registered Nurse currently enrolled in the BSN program at University of Phoenix. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. As a future public health nurse, I have an interest in promoting an increase in physical activity and healthy eating habits in our community.
Sec 460 - Therefore I trust you share my concerns regarding the importance of creating a safe environment in our city parks and recreation areas. I believe if we create a safe environment our community members would be enticed into our parks and recreations area, which will in turn increase their physical activity and decrease obesity.
Nur405 - The United Nations Health Decade has created an alliance with the World Health Organization in bringing to the forefront the epidemic of obesity as a global issue. Community involvement is necessary to put an end to the devastating impact of obesity on the health of our families.
Nur 405 - More than one-third of children or adolescents are overweight or obese (CDC, 2011). The unhealthy lifestyle and lack of physical activity is passed down from adults, tradition, habit, and the new era of technology. The continuous addition of technological diversion has created a recreational pastime that is sedentary and unhealthy jeopardizing the health of future adults. According to the U.S. Surgeon General the number of overweight children has doubled and the number of adolescents has tripled since 1980 (World Wide Organization, 2009).
